Frequently Asked Questions

Is supplemental insurance necessary?

You are not required to have Supplemental Insurance.  However, many people benefit from supplemental policies.

Supplemental Insurance can help fill in the gaps left by your primary insurance.  You might have great health insurance that covers your medical bills, but you still have to pay co-pays, deductibles.

Major medical coverage can have high deductibles and co-pays, which could put a financial burden on you.  Supplemental insurance can provide payment to make up for this loss of work income.

In addition, you may need temporary insurance until you can obtain insurance through your employer, or your employer may not provide coverage that meets the needs of you and your family.

How does an Accident or Critical Illness policy work?

Accident and Critical Illness policies work by paying a lump sum directly to you for a qualifying illness, and paying a fixed amount to you for a qualifying injury.

Can I choose how I spend the money?

An Accident and Critical Illness policy provides coverage for Accidental Injury and Critical Illnesses and can pay directly to you or someone you designate, such as a doctor or medical facility.

Our Accident and Critical Illness coverage is bundled into one policy so you receive coverage for both.  More information on this policy is located here

Why Should I purchase an individual Dental?

Dental procedures are expensive, and many times you may not be able to afford to go to the dentist.  Dental insurance helps you pay the cost of both routine and unexpected dental visits.  This is especially valuable if your employer does not offer Dental coverage.

What does a Dental policy cover?

Policies vary depending on the level of coverage you select and the state you live in. Some things included with a Basic plan are 2 routine cleanings, 1 bitewing X ray a year, and some portion of more extensive care such as fillings and extractions.  View your Dental policy options HERE

What is a Medical Savings Policy?

With a Medical Savings Policy, you have access to discounts for non- traditional health care options as well as services that can help lower your medical bills.  More information on this policy is located HERE.

Does Supplemental Insurance meet the coverage requirements in the Affordable Care Act?

No.  Supplemental insurance does not meet the requirements set by the Affordable Care Act.  These policies are not intended to be used as comprehensive health insurance.

What if I decide I don’t need a policy I have purchased?

Supplemental coverage can be modified or changed at any time.  If you choose to cancel your policy in the first 15 days, you will receive a full refund. Unlike policies provided by an employer, you do not have to wait for the open enrollment period or a qualifying event to drop or change your coverage, so the choice is up to you.
